Product Description

New anthology of visionary artists from electronic music history. This new chapter continues the process of the first volume which went back to the time of effervescence and innovation, with its eternal classics (Suicide, OMD, Fad Gadget, The Human League, DAF, Cabaret Voltaire or Front 242), and rarities (Goƻts De Luxe, Crash Course In Science, Jeff and Jane, Unknowmix etc.) and its eternal outsiders now worshipped (Polyphonic Size, Shriekback, Laurie Anderson, Kas Product, Chris & Cosey etc.)

I bought this compilation solely to get the "album" version of Shriekback's Accretions. At least, it's the same version that was on the Canadian pressing of the vinyl "Care" album. It would seem that the versions of Accretions available on other CD compilations, including Shriekback's own "Y Records Years" are slower tempo "remixes" which, for me, don't have the energy of the version contained here. The lack of added vocoded vocal "production" on this version also fits the track better IMHO.As for the rest of the CD, hmmmm. Not much that had me listening twice. Many tracks sound like "early" and somewhat experimental tracks using first generation drum machines. Some of it is just plain sad. Some tracks have mild interesting moments but even the tracks by "known" artists seem to be lacking.
