Product Description

Suitable for steep ice climbs at WI4, The Dark Machine is Grivel's lightest T-rated tool for a technical performance that weighs less than a single pound. It's the first in Grivel's lineup to have a handle made out of carbon composite. Most light axes only use carbon in the shaft, which includes the Dark Machine, except instead of using thicker, heavier carbon at the attachments, Grivel used carbon-wrapped aluminum to lighten up the weight while still ensuring proper stiffness for steep climbing. The ice pick is hot forged for a phenomenal strength-to-weight ratio, and it's completely modular so you can replace the pick with another, or add adzes or hammers to the back.

Product Features

Material [shaft, handle] G-bone carbon composite [pick] hot forged steel

Took them to Hyalite canyon in Bozeman, very light and swing into it naturally. Expensive compare to the Nomic from Petzl I use last year. My wife and friend also love these when they try them. Despite other reviewer have some small complain about them I don’t have any. Good grip, good swing and good bite into the ice.
